Here are three family-friendly fall hikes in North Ogden, Utah, including Major Flag, along with suggested images for each trail:

  1. The Major Flag Trail is a popular hike that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. This trail is approximately 2.5 miles long and features a moderate incline, making it suitable for families with children. There are 3 different routes you can take. Make sure and watch the signs for the right one! The trail head is located on top of Mtn. Road and 2750 N in North Ogden. The vibrant fall colors make this hike particularly beautiful during the autumn months.

2. Waterfall Canyon Trail

Waterfall Canyon Trail is another excellent option for families. This 2.5-mile round trip hike leads to a picturesque waterfall, which is especially lovely in the fall when the leaves change color. The trail is well-marked and offers a moderate challenge, making it accessible for families with older children.

The trail to Waterfall Canyon Falls (also known as Malan Falls) starts at the edge of Ogden, and is easy to find. There is parking for 20 or so cars. There is one confusing moment where the trail splits in a few directions. If in doubt, head south and head uphill. It will meander along the side of the mountain for a ways, and then it will veer more directly into Waterfall Canyon

3. North Ogden Divide Trail

The North Ogden Divide Trail is a scenic hike that provides stunning views of the Ogden Valley and the Wasatch Mountains. The trail is about 3 miles long and features a gradual ascent, making it suitable for families. In the fall, the trail is adorned with beautiful foliage, making it a perfect spot for a family outing. From North Ogden: Head east on 3100 North. The road will become narrow and winding as it climbs. Look for the trailhead sign on your right after about 3 miles, where you can park.
